In order to enrich and meet the cultural and spiritual life of our international students and feel the warmth of the family of Changzhou Vocational Institute of Mechatronic Technology, the International Education College organized the international students to carry out the activity of ‘Writing the Spring Festival Couplets (Chinese Pronunciation: Chunlian) and Welcome the Spring Festival’ in Qingguo Lane on January 27.
Qiu Chao, Secretary of the General Party Branch of the foundation department, Gao Shuhong, president of the International Education College, Wang Zhisong, vice-president, and Xu Zhouping and Fan Xu, teachers of the College of Creative Design, participated in the activity of ‘Writing the Spring Festival Couplets and Welcome the Spring Festival’ to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year with international students.
Xu Zhouping shared the significance and skills of writing the Spring Festival couplets with international students, and explained to them the significance of Chinese Spring Festival, the history, value, the format and pasting method of Spring Festival couplets one by one. While explaining, she showed the writing methods and forms of Spring Festival couplets and the Chinese character ‘Fu’ to international students. The international students listened with interest and wrote with great interests. They kept asking the teacher for the essentials of calligraphy, warmly discussed the content they wanted to write with their classmates and enjoyed the process of writing with concentrations. Mr. Xu's natural and smooth calligraphy demonstration pushed the activity to a climax and won applause at the scene.
Teachers from the paper-cut association of Miaoqiao middle school in Wujin District presented paper-cut works to international students, introduced the cultural history and artistic language of Chinese folk paper-cut to international students, and explained the cultural meaning of these works.
During the activities, the international students felt the love of the school and gained fun. Meanwhile, they also had a deeper and specific understanding of Chinese traditional culture.
