In 1963, the Industrial Enterprise Electrification Professional Teaching and Research Office was established, which is the predecessor of the School of Electrical Engineering. It was renamed as the Department of Electrical Engineering, the Department of Electrical Engineering, and then the School of Electrical Engineering in 2015.
After more than 50 years of development and accumulation, the School of Electrical Engineering has developed into one of the largest and most powerful secondary schools in the Institute, with 3,610 full-time students. There are 6 majors including Electrical Automation Technology, Mechatronics Technology, Industrial Robot Technology, Power System Automation Technology, Power Supply Technology, and Numerical Control Equipment Application and Maintenance. Among them, the majors of industrial robot technology, numerical control equipment application and maintenance are Jiangsu provincial brand majors. The electrical automation technology major is a provincial-level special major in Jiangsu. The major of mechatronics is a pilot major of German dual system teaching reform. The majors of power supply and consumption technology and power system automatic technology are the characteristic majors of the national machinery industry.
The School of Electrical Engineering adheres to the school-running principle of Cultivating morality, promoting technology, and controlling the future with intelligence, and takes it as its mission to cultivate high-quality skilled talents that meet the needs of the society. Over the past 50 years, about 20,000 high-quality technical and skilled talents have been cultivated for Changzhou and surrounding areas. The employment rate of each majors is above 98%. Students have won 16 first prizes and 12 second prizes in the National Vocational Skills Competition.
The School of Electrical Engineering adheres to the school-running approach of “cooperation between school and enterprise and integration of production and education. The school led the establishment of the National Machinery Industry Industrial Robot and Intelligent Equipment Vocational Education Group, and has carried out in-depth cooperation with a number of leading enterprises in this industry such as Yaskawa Electric, Omron, Huibo Robotic, Suwen Electric Energy, XINJE, and Mengtechs Intelligent Equipment. The number of students of school-enterprise cooperation orders accounts for more than 1/3 of the total number of students. Practical teaching bases such as Yaskawa Robot Training Center and Omron Automation Training Center are jointly built by the School of Electrical Engineering and enterprises, the total value of which is more than 60 million RMB.
The School of Electrical Engineering adheres to the strategy of strengthening the school building through talents. The college has set up 4 professional teaching teams with a total of 70 professional teachers, including 6 professors and 4 doctors. The proportion of teachers with a master's degree or above is 72%. There are 1 national-level teaching team, 1 Jiangsu provincial-level Qinglan project excellent teaching team, 1 scientific and technological innovation team, and 7 Jiangsu provincial-level Qinglan project backbone teachers.
The School of Electrical Engineering insists on the mission of serving the local area. The scientific research bases of the school include Robot and Intelligent Equipment Technology Research Center affiliated to the Ministry of Science and Technology, Jiangsu Provincial Industrial Robot and Intelligent Equipment Industry Public Technology Service Platform, Jiangsu Industrial Robot System Integration Engineering Technology Research and Development Center, and Changzhou Key Laboratory of Industrial Robot. In the past five years, the teachers of the college have presided over 15 scientific research projects at or above the provincial level, carried out 73 horizontal service projects for enterprises, and obtained 76 patent authorizations.
