In 2003, the Faculty of Mold Technology was established on the basis of the original major of Mold Design and Manufacturing, and in 2016, it developed into the School of Mold Technology. Utilizing the advantages and resources of Changzhou Vocational Institute of Mechatronic Technology in the field of equipment manufacturing, the Mold Technology College mainly provides professionals and technical services for vehicle parts and IT industries in Changzhou and surrounding areas. It offers majors in mold design and manufacturing, material forming and control technology, welding technology and automation, metal materials and heat treatment technology, mechanical product inspection and testing technology, and aviation material precision molding technology. In 2018, the undergraduate major of mechanical design, manufacturing and automation was opened, in cooperation with Jiangsu Ocean University. The major of mold design and manufacturing has been recognized as the key construction major in national backbone higher vocational colleges, the equipment manufacturing demonstration major in national vocational colleges, the Jiangsu provincial brand building major, Jiangsu provincial higher vocational demonstration major, the first batch of Dual-certificate integration pilot majors in Jiangsu Province, the key construction major in Jiangsu Provincial Higher Vocational Demonstration Park. In 2019, it was approved to belong to a high-level professional construction project with Chinese characteristics. In addition, it has successively won the second prize of the National Teaching Achievement Award and the first and second prizes of the Jiangsu Province Teaching Achievement Award. In 2019, the major applied for and obtained 1 construction project of the National Vocational Education Professional Teaching Resource Database (Mechanical Product Testing and Inspection Technology), and 1 National High-Quality Online Open Course Project. The average employment competitiveness index of graduates six months after graduation is 91%. “Enterprise Joint School of Jiangsu Mold Industry was established on the basis of cooperation with 8 enterprises including Jiangsu Mold Industry Association (affiliated with School of Mold Technology, Institute) and Kunshan Kersen Technology Co., Ltd. In 2018, on the basis of the Mold Industry Association, the Jiangsu Provincial Mold Intelligent Manufacturing Talent Training Alliance was established. More than 90% of the full-time teachers presided over the enterprise horizontal project, incubating the School in the Factory of Bowin to become a high-tech enterprise and successfully listed; assisting the construction of Kunshan and Changzhou mold cities and promoting the industrial transformation. In recent years, the number of students in our school has stabilized at about 1,200 per year.
The teaching reform has achieved remarkable results. Through the establishment of the Joint School of The Mold Industry relying on the Jiangsu Mold Industry Association, the professional construction of our institute has successively cooperated with Changzhou Bowin Mold Co., Ltd., Kunshan Kersen Technology Co., Ltd. and other enterprises to build the mechanism construction of the school-enterprise cooperation system. Through in-depth study of the vocational qualification standards, the school has formed a talent training model of integration of dual certificates and integration of learning and practice. A curriculum system with work tasks as the center and project courses as the main body has been established to implement project-based teaching. The professional qualification standards of the German AHK mold machinery industry were introduced for localized implementation, and achieved remarkable results. At present, there is 1 national-level excellent course, 1 national-level excellent textbook, and 1 provincial-level excellent course. 10 project-based textbooks have been published, and 3 of them have been rated as Jiangsu provincial-level excellent textbooks. The achievements of professional teaching reform have won 1 first prize, 1 second prize and 1 national second prize of Jiangsu Higher Education Teaching Achievement Award.
Professional settings have a long history. The school set up the mold design and manufacturing major in 1988, the material forming and control technology (welding technology and automation direction) major in 2005, the metal material and heat treatment major in 2009, the physical and chemical testing and quality inspection technology major in 2012, and the machinery major in 2017, and the major of product testing and inspection technology, the major of precision molding technology for aviation materials, the major of mechanical design and manufacturing and its automation (4+0 undergraduate major) in 2018.
The school has a strong team of teachers, with 41 faculty members, one national teaching team and one provincial teaching team. Internship training conditions are excellent. The total equipment assets amount to more than 43 million RMB. It has successively built a national-level teacher training base, a national machinery industry guidance committee teacher training base, and a provincial-level training platform for deep integration of production and education. There are 3 training bases for mold technology, machining technology, and welding technology, and 4 experimental training centers for mold design and manufacturing, metal material testing, mechanical foundation, and electrical and electronics. In cooperation with Changzhou Gongli Precision Machinery Technology Co., Ltd., etc., 40 practical teaching bases with school-in-plant and factory-in-school as the main body have been established.
Social services have yielded fruitful results. Relying on Jiangsu Mold Technology Training Center and Changzhou Mold Design and Manufacturing Technology Service Application Center, a team for the application scientific research of mold design and manufacturing technology has been established to carry out technical services and technical training. The school is the secretary-general unit of the Provincial Mold Industry Association, so it is entrusted by the Ministry of Education and other provincial and ministerial-level units to preside over the establishment of the national question bank for the mold designer examination and the formulation of the professional standards for mold manufacturers; The school has carried out various trainings for more than 24,000 person-times for professional teachers of higher vocational molds and employees of Jiangsu Changfa Group and other companies, presided over more than 20 vertical projects above the city hall level, and provided more than 80 horizontal services for enterprises, and authorized more than 100 patents.
