It was in December 2015 that the School of Information Engineering,  Changzhou Vocational Institute of Mechatronic Technology was officially established. In 1994, the Institute established a computer center and set up a computer major. In November 2001, an information engineering department was established. In 2003, an art design major was added. In June 2012, the Faculty of Art and Design was established and co-located with the Faculty of Information Engineering. In February 2013, the Faculty of Art and Design was separated and set up independently. In the same year, the majors of Applied Electronics and Building Intelligent Engineering Technology were merged into the Faculty of Information Engineering. In December 2015, the School of Information Engineering was finally established.

The school motto of Going forward with knowledge and practice  has always been the school-running philosophy that the School of Information Engineering has always adhered to. It has strengthened the construction of the school culture of dedicated to achieve a difference, pragmatic and correct work style, and innovation to seek development, and formed the distinctive features of strict management, excellent study style, and leading academic achievement. At present, the school offers majors including Internet of Things Application Technology, Building Intelligent Engineering Technology, Electronic Information Engineering Technology, Computer Network Technology, Software Technology, Mobile Internet Application Technology, Information Security and Management, Cloud Computing Technology and Application. In 2010, the major of Internet of Things Application Technology was listed as a key construction major in national backbone higher vocational colleges; In 2011, the major of Software was rated as a characteristic major for the cultivation of skilled personnel in the national machinery industry; In 2012, the major group of The Internet of Things And Manufacturing Informatization was listed as the key professional group of the Jiangsu Provincial Twelfth Five-Year Higher Institutes; In 2017, the major of Internet of Things Application Technology was listed as a high-level backbone special major in Jiangsu Province.

vThe School of Information Engineering is recognized as a test center unit for authorized skills training and certification, including the National Computer Rank Examination, National Computer Professionals Examination, Hardware Engineer, National Information Engineer, H3C Network, Ruijie Network, Linux Network, Intelligent Building Manager, Radio Debuggers, FPGA development and application engineers, SMT technicians, etc. It is also the executive director unit of the Jiangsu Information Vocational Education Professional Committee and the director unit of the Higher Vocational Branch of the Jiangsu University Computer Basic Teaching Working Committee.

Driven by social needs, the School of Information Engineering pays attention to connotative development, highlights the importance of target management, and comprehensively improves the quality of training to cultivate high-quality technical and skilled talents that meet social needs. Graduates are equipped with a solid professional foundation, strong hands-on ability, high comprehensive quality, and wide employment scope, which enables them to be widely recognized by the society.
